FULL PROFESSOR

Jorge A. Ruiz Cruz received the Telecommunication Engineer and the PhD degrees from the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM), Spain, in 1999 and 2005, respectively. Before starting the PhD program, where he began his relationship with the Applied Electromagnetism Group (GEA, using the Spanish acronym), he was with the company RYMSA (2000). His post-doctoral stage began in 2005-06 as a Research Associate at the University of Maryland (USA). He joined the Autonomous University of Madrid (UAM) in 2006, where he became an Associate Professor in 2011 and a Full Professor in 2021. In 2023 he joined the UPM, as a Full Professor in the Department of Signals, Systems and Radiocommunications (SSR).

His research is focused on the analysis and design of passive microwave devices (filters, multiplexers, orthomodes-OMTs, polarizers, transformers, couplers, etc.) especially in waveguide technology, using field-matching methods, and focused on satellite communications. This activity has resulted in collaborations with companies, projects with public and private funding, scientific publications, patents, and research stays in different international institutions, receiving various recognitions for his work.
